While most college students were enjoying their last few days of summer vacation, members of the NYU Purple & White Dance Team traveled to Myrtle Beach, SC, to attend NDA’s College Camp, August 14-16, 2009.

Over the course of 2 1/2 days, the team’s members had to learn, prepare, and execute an entire routine (“Team Dance“) for the competition held on the last day of camp (no easy feat!), learn and perform 2 style routines each, excel in technique classes, and compete in various individual competitions throughout the entire weekend. At the end of what was essentially a three-day bootcamp of 18-hour days leading to  midnight practices and crack-of-dawn rehearsals, the team emerged victorious in the final competition and were recognized for outstanding performance by their instructors and peers!

NYU’s Dance Team was awarded a spirit stick (yep, that’s right), first place in it’s division for “Team Dance,” and a partially paid bid to the NDA National Competition in April  2010, held in Daytona, FL.! Our two captains were also selected to be members of NDA’s All-American Collegiate Dance Team: Christine Chen and Alisha Johri.

A special thanks to Amy Trader – the best team buddy ever!!! And to Heather Langham – head NDA staff leader and now an official Radio City Rockette!  So glad to have you come to our city & very excited to have you as one of our judges for our team’s ’09-’10 Team tryouts!
